Abstract
Dielectric constants of argon, krypton, xenon, and methane have been measured in the liquid and in the solid near the melting point. Values of the derived Clausius—Mossotti function are in all cases less than for the gas, indicating a decreased effective polarizability attributed to overlap effects.Keywords
