Abstract
The addition of growth hormone alone to white fat cells from normal or hypophysectomized rats stimulated lipolysis. The lipolytic action of growth hormone was enhanced by the presence of glucocorticoids. Cycloheximide and dactinomycin blocked the lipolytic action of growth hormone on fat cells from hypophysectomized and normal rats in both the presence and absence of glucocorticoids. 1 This study was supported by Public Health Service Research Grant AM-10149 from the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases.
