The theoretical framing of a social problem: Some conceptual notes on satanic cults

Abstract
This paper describes, documents and interprets the contemporary movement to legitimate satanic cults as a social problem in America. The movement draws support from productions by mass media, police experts, counselors and support organizations. Literature is also presented that debunks the movement. In addition to an analysis, this paper offers theoretical interpretations of the movement, attempting to place it within the traditionalist or social constructionist perspective.
