Abstract
In order to study the development of the boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boh., on the wine cup, Callirrhoe involucrata (Nutt.) A Gray, work was conducted at the Entomology Research Laboratory at College Station, Texas, during April and May of 1957 and 1958. Observations indicated that newly emerged weevils would feed on buds of the plant, develop sexually, and oviposit within the buds. Eggs removed from buds were found to hatch. Overwintered weevils also accepted the buds as food and as a site for oviposition. Boll weevil eggs were removed from cotton squares and implanted in 40 buds. Seven adult weevils emerged.
