Abstract
Harter's Self‐Perception Profile for Children was translated into Greek, and answers were obtained from a nationally representative sample of 1,071 Greek elementary and junior high school children. Following the same statistical procedures as those used by Harter, almost identical results were obtained in respect of reliability and factorial structure across various Greek sub‐samples. This cross‐cultural stability augurs well for further use of the Harter scale outside the USA, although some conceptual issues are shown to need further attention. Keywords
