In Situ Quantitation of Norethindrone and Mestranol by Spectrodensitometry of Thin Layer Chromatograms

Abstract
A spectrodensitometric method for the determination of norethindrone and mestranol after thin-layer chromatography is described. Fluorescence quenching was used to detect norethindrone while fluorescence emission after reaction with selenious acid was used to detect mestranol. Quantitation was achieved by the internal standard technique. The method is specific and sensitive with a relative standard deviation of about 3%.
