On the Nature of the Blocking of the Laticiferous System at the Leaf-base of Hevea brasiliensis

Abstract

A method is described for the anatomical examination of laticiferous systems. The arrangement of the latex tubes in Hevea brasiliensis is recorded, and the occlusion of the system at the mature leaf-bases of this plant is shown to be due to the deposition of plugs of callose in the tubes.
