Abstract
The Landauer formula, which relates a resistance to scattering properties is derived in the case when energy quantisation is important. A small (compared to pi h(cross)/e2) resistance reduces to the average (over various channels) single-impurity reflection coefficient. Magnetic field effects are also considered.Keywords
