Abstract

Testosterone propionate had a gonadotrophic effect in immature [female] rats, and several investigators showed that it induced the formation of large follicles and an occasional corpus luteum. However, it did not produce any increase in ovarian wt. even when as much as 45 mg. were given in 5-day expts. It greatly augmented the increase of ovarian wt. produced by the chorionic gonadotrophin in intact immature [female] rats when it was administered previously by subcut. inj.
