Notes on Astrogastraceous Fungi

Abstract
Studies were made of certain types of hypogeous Basidiomycetes to get the microscopic data necessary to reclassify the spp. on modern lines. One new sp., Octavianina brunnea is included from Michigan. New combinations and new names are as follows: Martellia alveolata (Octaviania Cooke and Massee); M. tomentosa (Hydnangium Cribb); M. australiense [sic] (Hydnangium Berk and Br.); M. berkeleyi (Octaviania australiensis Berk and Br.); Cystangium rodwayi (Secotium rodwayi Massee). Gymnomyces xanthosporus (Hydnangium carneum var. xanthosporium Hawker); Zelleromyces stephansii (Hydnangium Berk); Z. majus [sic] (Hydnangium Cribb); Z. maliensis (Arcangeliella Corner and Hawker); Elasmomyces lamingtonensis (Secotium Cribb); E. texta [sic] (Secotium sessile var. textum (Cribb). In Z. maliensis some of the lacticiferous hyphae are blue in iodine solution.
