Abstract
A method is described for the isolation of eggs from Ascaris lumbricoides var. suum females. The method essentially involves the homogenization of resected uteri with the aid of a hand-driven Ten Broeck tissue homogenizer (Pyrex No. 96580). The uterine tissue is completely disrupted whereas the eggs are liberated and left unharmed. By repeated centrifugations the eggs are washed free from contaminating material. A comparison of this method with the "milking" procedure reveals that the number of eggs harvested is increased by over 50%, while the time involved is reduced about 50%.
