The Possibility of Surgical Treatment in Cases of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract
Summary The authors came to their conclusion on the basis of 76 operations performed in a group of 32 children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis that the number of required operations which should be done in one patient is relative to the duration of his illness. Synovectomies and releasing operations performed in the early period of j.r.a. had a prophylactic significance. Most operations were done in cases of deformations to reduce disability of patients. The achieved results were successful in 72 %. It is safe to say, therefore, that surgical treatment may be applied more often than not in case of j.r.a.
