Human Saliva: Its Antigenic Composition

Abstract
By means of Ouchterlony agar plates and immunoelectrophoretic analysis concentrated whole human saliva has been shown to contain many antigenic proteins in common with human sera. A comparison was made of the precipitation lines obtained immunoelectrophoretically with serum and saliva. The findings suggest that saliva contains the following serum proteins: gamma-globulin, [beta]2A globulin, [beta]1 transferrin, [alpha]2 haptoglobin, [alpha]1 glycoprotein, [alpha]1 lipoprotein, and albumin.
