Abstract
We have measured the resistivity of two dilute alloys as a function of temperature from (1.5-15)°K and in various longitudinal magnetic fields up to 60 kOe. The Curie temperatures of the two alloys were found to be 2.15 and 3.75°K, respectively, so that the data include both the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic regions. That part of the resistivity due to potential and exchange scattering from the magnetic iron impurities was extracted and compared with a modified form of Yosida's theory of magnetoresistance. Agreement between theory and experiment was extremely good in the high-field region (above 10 kOe) and yielded values of consistent with previous magnetization and magnetoresistance measurements. Possible reasons for the differences between theory and experiment at low fields are discussed.
