Abstract
The Taylor functional method is reexamined for nonuniform classical systems. Some new integral equations relating the average number density with the external field imposed on the system are derived. Instead of truncating the functional expansions after the first term, a simple mathematical scheme is proposed which approximately takes into account all the higher-order terms. Due to their self-consistent nature, the equations obtained are expected to be useful in the phase-transition region. Keywords
