Susceptibility of Baboon (Papio doguera) Kidney Cells to Human Enteroviruses

Abstract
The susceptibility of baboon (Papio doguera) and monkey (Macaca mulatta) kidney cells to prototype human enteroviruses was compared. In addition, these cells were studied for their susceptibility to enteroviruses in human stool samples. The results indicate a close similarity between the two host systems. The baboon kidney cell has the additional advantage of indicating the presence of SV40 virus and being free of "native" viruses.
