Abstract
In order to study the mechanism of action, the elimination of injected estrogen, 5 mg. daily, was detd. in the urine of 9 dogs. Estrogen distr. in liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, spleen, pancreas, brain, bile and blood was studied in 8 dogs.[long dash]In 2 [female][female] injected with estrone, 6.5 to 16% of the estrogens appeared in the urine, the greater part in the combined form.[long dash]Two hysterectomized dogs injected with estradiol benzoate eliminated 12.5 to 20% in the urine, the greater part in the free form. After simultaneous adm. of testosterone propionate and estradiol benzoate into 2 [male] dogs 9-50% of the estrogens was found in the urine, the larger part in the free form. In all cases a part was present in the ketonic and a part in the non-ketonic form. The quantities of estrogen found in the organs were small; the highest conc. was observed in the liver.[long dash]After adm. of diethylstilbestrol 8 to 25% of the activity was found in the urine, mostly in the free state. The liver showed the highest conc. of all organs.[long dash]After subcut. adm. of stilbestrol, this substance could be identified in the urine and in the liver by means of the Sb penta-chloride reaction. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
