Abstract
The intensities of the interaction induced components of the Rayleigh and the v 1 g +), v 2 u ) and v 3 u +) Raman bands and of the v 1 g +) near infrared band have been measured from the freezing point to the normal boiling point. A simple multipole theory for these spectra is outlined and it is shown how this description can account quantitatively for the magnitude and temperature dependence of the relative intensities of the different bands.
