Mallory Bodies in a Case of Primary Biliary Cirrhosis: An Ultrastructural and Morphogenetic study

Abstract
The ultrastructural characteristics of Mallory bodies were studied for the first time in a case of primary biliary cirrhosis. The Mallory bodies observed in this study were morphologically identical to those previously described in other pathologic conditions of the liver. The morphogenesis of this hepatocellular alteration was also studied; evidence suggesting the possible origin of Mallory bodies from mitochondrial ribosomes was obtained.
