Abstract
The band‐structure problem of chromatography is approached in this paper using concepts from discrete probability theory and passing to the limit for the continous case. Both the one‐site and two‐site problems are treated under the stipulation of linear adsorption properties. A two‐site expression has been derived which is complicated only by the need to evaluate one integral numerically. The band structure is given for two hypothetical cases, one involving one‐site and the other the more complicated two‐site processes. Keywords
