Observation of pentacarbonylchromium on flash photolysis of hexacarbonylchromium in cyclohexane solution

Abstract

The first observable transient (lifetime > 50 ns) on flash photolysis of Cr(CO)₆ is Cr(CO)₅, which is the precursor of two species previously assigned to the D_3h and C_4v forms of Cr(CO)₅, and now shown to arise from reaction with impurities.
