A preliminary annotated check list of dinoflagellates from New Zealand coastal waters

Abstract

This check list, with localities, has been compiled from the published literature, with the addition of a few unpublished records. It covers the coastal waters of the three main islands and deals almost exclusively with planktonic forms. A total of 110 taxa are listed. An effort has been made to bring the nomenclature up to date and taxonomic comments are included.
