Abstract
Methionine (presumably as a methyl donor) accelerates floral abscission in tobacco at concentrations of 0.001-0.1 [image]. Indoleacetic acid retards abscission. When the 2 factors are added to developing ovaries in combination, in general the effect is one of diminishing the effect of either when added alone. However, high concentrations of indoleacetic acid (100 and 1000 ppm) completely overcome the accelerating effect of methionine.
