Diagnosis of Abdominal Masses

Abstract

A large proportion of abdominal masses in infants and children are neoplasms, and most are malignant. Diagnosis may be evident after correlation of clinical findings but should be confirmed by radiographic studies. Intravenous pyelogram (left, below) shows inferior displacement of right kidney by large neuroblastoma. Inferior vena cavagram, also shown on this film, demonstrates obstruction of the vena cava with filling of collaterals.
