ÜBER BLUTSTEROIDE

Abstract
Pooled human plasma was studied chromatographically to determine the identity of the neutral steroids present. The free steroids were extracted with ethyl acetate and benzene (extract F) and after preliminary purification and repeated chromatography, the following compounds were found: cortisol, corticosterone, 4-androstene-11[beta]-ol-3,17-dione. Extract F was hydrolyzed with[beta]-glucuronidase (extract G I) and the following steroids were identified: tetrahydro-cortisol, tetrahydrocortisone, etiocholane-3[alpha]-ol-11,17-dione, dehydro-epiandrosterone, androsterone and etiocholanolone. After ether extraction at pH 1 and acid hydrolysis at 100[degree] C, the following steroids were identified: etiocholane-3[alpha]-ol-11, 17-dione, dehydroepiandrosterone and androsterone. The authors believe that additional, as yet unidentified, steroids are also present in human blood plasma.
