Decay Widths of theφMeson from Algebra of Currents

Abstract
The decay width of the φ meson is considered by using the hypothesis of a partially conserved axialvector current and the equal-time commutation relations of the chiral SU(3)SU(3) current algebra. We obtain Γ(φKK¯)=3.9 MeV to be compared with the latest experimental value Γexpt(φKK¯)=4.0±1.0 MeV. A comparison with the results of the SU(3) symmetry is made, and the electromagnetic decay modes of the φ are also discussed.
