Large-Angle Scattering and the Fifth Interaction

Abstract

It is suggested that the recent fit by Abarbanel et al. of $\frac{d\sigma }{\mathrm{dt}}$ for $p-p$ elastic scattering at large $s$ and $t$ to a curve of the electromagnetic form factor raised to fourth power, ${\left[G_{M_p}\mathrm{}\right(t\left)\right]}^4$, corresponds to the $\mathrm{SU}\left(3\right)\mathrm{}$-breaking interaction. This is the only non-Regge pole in the strong interaction, which is otherwise entirely described by Regge-trajectory or bootstrap dynamics.
