Abstract
We present the theory of surface polaritons which propagate in a film of a surface-active material placed on a substrate. The theory provides a description of the new mode observed recently by Evans, Ushioda, and McMullen in the Raman spectrum of a GaAs film placed on a sapphire substrate. Keywords
