Abstract
The central effects of local anesthetics were compared with those of d-amphetamine, using the schedule-controlled behavior of the pigeon. Subconvulsant doses of cocaine and d-amphetamine produced similar effects on schedule-controlled behavior that were quite different from the effects of procaine, mepivacaine and lidocaine.
