Abstract
Insight into the structure of the communicator's lexicon is claimed through a major variation on the classical “semantic generalization” paradigm. Primarily, the variation consists of the investigation of verbal generalization in encoding rather than decoding, and the simultaneous consideration of three generalization types—semantic, phonological, and syntactic. The results provide evidence of a lexicon organized upon a semantic‐phonological‐syntactic hierarchy. Keywords
