Collaborative Learning between Peers

Abstract
Our paper starts with an overview of research into collaborative learning. This demonstrates that collaboration in pairs or small groups can facilitate pupils’ learning and development. Yet observations of classroom practice show that group work does not realise the potential promised by research. Explaining this divide between results of research and observation of practice is the major focus of our overview. We then offer some suggestions about how educational psychology might help to bridge the divide.
