Abstract
Rubella HI [hemagglutination inhibiting] nonspecific inhibitor is removed more effectively from serum by heparin-MnCl2 than by kaolin. The former precipitates beta-lipoprotein (the inhibitor) from serum; kaolin does this less efficiently. Erythrocytes from adult Muscovy ducks are as, or more, effective than those from day-old chicks for demonstrating rubella hemagglutinin. Among 100 elderly persons, 99 had rubella HI antibodies.
