Hepatic metallothionein in the winter flounder (Pseudopleuronectes americanus)

Abstract
A low molecular weight, metal-binding protein, characterized as metallothionein, was isolated from the liver cytosols of winter flounder injected with zinc or cadmium. This identity was confirmed by its amino acid composition, which was similar to that of metallothioneins isolated from the intestinal mucosal cytosol of zinc-injected flounder and from liver cytosols of other species of fish and mammals.Keywords
