Abstract
The ability of the mammalian organism to utilize fructose in the absence of the liver has been confirmed. The life of the eviscerated animal can also be prolonged for a considerable time by administration of fructose. In neither the hepatectomized nor the eviscerated dog was there an increase in the blood glucose following a large intravenous injection of fructose. The exptl. facts find a ready interpretation on the basis that in mammals fructose can be directly oxidized. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
