Examination of analytical methods for ions and saccharides in the extract of Phaseolus pulvini

Abstract

With slight modifications, conventional assay procedures for K⁺, Na⁺, Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Cl⁻, NO₃⁻, H₂PO₄⁻, fructose and fructose-yielding saccharides, and glucose were applicable to the extract of Phaseolus pulvini. About 10 ml of a hot-water extract from about 30 mg fresh weight of the pulvini was sufficient for separate measurement of the ions and saccharides named above.
