Stero-Bile Acids and Bile Sterols

Abstract
Cyprinol was isolated from bile of Cyprinus carpio by hydrolyzing with trichloracetic acid in dioxane. Cyprinol was likely identical with 3-alpha, 7-alpha, 12-alpha, 26,27-pentahydroxycholestane on the basis of chromatographic and spectroscopic (infra red, and nuclear magnetic resonance) analyses. Hostalene column chromatography of the bile revealed the presence of cholic acid.
