Abstract
The anisotropic electron-paramagnetic-resonance spectrum of an erbium-doped single crystal of magnesium metal is characteristic of a uniaxially distorted doublet of the free-ion multiplet. The observed linewidth anisotropy is consistent with an isotropic conduction-electron-localized-electron exchange interaction.
