Abstract
The criterion of easy glide in the c.p.h. metal crystals has been examined by applying anisotropic elasticity theory. The results indicate a correlation between the observed slip planes and the planes of lowest elastic dislocation energy. It is further indicated that the deviation of observed slip planes from the densest plane and. direction criterion (e.g. in Be) is a direct consequence of the highly anisotropic nature of the c.p.h. metal crystals. Keywords
