Abstract
Doxorubicin hydrochloride (from Streptomyces peucetius variant caesius) (Adriamycin) therapy was associated with renal failure in 78 yr old man. The pathophysiologic findings were similar to those seen following administration of structural analogs of doxorubicin. Daunorubicin hydrochloride, particularly, was known to cause renal failure in experimental animals. Renal function should be monitored in patients receiving doxorubicin.
