Abstract
A case of myocardial infarction occurring in a young woman, with known rheumatic disease is described. Blood cultures grew Streptococcus viridans, which confirmed the diagnosis of subacute bacterial endocarditis. The infarction is thought to have been due to an embolism composed of vegetations from the diseased heart. The patient made a good recovery after a relapse. Other reported cases are discussed, but one similar to this is uncommon.
