The ill effects of smoking on general health were documented. Dental practitioners are aware of its relation to oral pathology, preliminary investigations reveal that in such cases the lingual taste buds may be affected. Their ability to identify plain table salt could be significantly depressed. This could suggest a probable missing link in the CVR [cardiovascular-renal] disease-smoking riddle.
