Abstract
A three-tube method combined with a dichotomic key is presented which will identify virtually all Enterobacteriaceae as well as a number of other frequently encountered Gram-negative rods at a genus or species level within 20 hours following the primary isolation. The method is shown to be reliable and simple, saving processing time and material. Keywords
