Abstract
The fixation of complement by vesicular stomatitis virus and its antiserum was type specific for the 2 strains of virus studied. There was no cross-fixation with any of the 3 types of the virus of foot-and-mouth disease. This work indicates that the complement-fixation test may be a valuable diagnostic aid in differentiating between vesicular stomatitis and foot-and-mouth disease.
