Abstract
The problem of hydromagnetic reflection and refraction at a fluid velocity discontinuity is solved. Expressions for the propagation vector of the refracted wave and for the reflection coefficient are derived. It is found that the reflected and refracted waves are pure characteristic waves if the incident wave is a pure characteristic wave. Keywords
