Abstract
Assays of material from the central and peripheral portions of the beef ant. pituitary gland demonstrated a greater conc. of the gonadotrophic. thyrotrophic and adrenotrophic hormones in the central portion. The high conc. of these hormones in this region suggested that the basophilic cells might be their source of origin. However, the ratio of the conc. of these hormones between the central and peripheral regions was not identical, thus indicating that the 3 hormones were produced or stored by separate cell types which were distributed in the central and peripheral zones in different proportions.
