Abstract
A group of compounds consisting of thion-thiazolidines, thion-oxazolidines, and a thion-thiazoline were found to be tasteless to some persons and very bitter to others. The three oxo-thiazolines that were examined did not exhibit this difference, being tasteless to all the subjects. A number of these compounds have been prepared for the first time, and their synthesis is described.Taste tests were conducted on other sulphur compounds and it is concluded that the "dual taste reaction" accompanies the [Formula: see text] grouping. Keywords
