The Determination of Quartz on Personal Sampler Filters by X-Ray Diffraction

Abstract
A method is described for the determination of the quartz content of dust collected by a size-selective personal sampler, using an X-ray diffraction and goniometer assembly. Measurements are made directly on the filter, and silver filters give more satisfactory background values than do the more conventional organic filters. The silver filters give adequate sampling efficiency and the collected sample is transportable without loss. The method has been shown to be satisfactory under laboratory and field conditions.
