Perceptions Toward the Rehabilitation Potential of Institutionalized Aged

Abstract
Researchers are becoming increasingly interested in the attitudes and perceptions of those working and involved with institutions for the aged as being possibly related to the care provided to an institutionalized population. A questionnaire was developed to learn about the perceptions toward the rehabilitation potential of the aged by those associated with a home for the aged. Differences in perceptions were found to exist between role categories and by years of education, but not by chronological age or years associated with the facility. Attitudinal differences can be related to policy-making, care of the aged, and self-images of the residents.
