Abstract
Nitrate is rapidly reduced to ammonia and is assimilated in the same way as ammonia. During the uptake of ammonia there is a rapid and intensive synthesis of organic nitrogen compounds in plant sap, which is chiefly composed of aminodicarboxylic acids and their amides, and also alanine. The easy interconvertability between these acids, their amides and alanine by feeding the plants these amino acids was noted. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
