THE ALKALOIDS OFRAUWOLFIA ROSEAK. SCHUM. (AFRICANRAUWOLFIASPECIES–VIII)1

Abstract

The principal alkaloids of R. rosea roots and stems are reserpine, reserpiline, ajmaline and serpentine. The highest yield of weakly basic alkaloids was found in the thinner root bark and reserpiline was the chief weakly basic alkaloid present. Als Hauptalkaloide im Stamm und in Wurzeln von Rauwolfia rosea wurden festgestellt Reserpin, Reserpilin, Ajmalin und Serpentin. Der höchste Gehalt an schwach basischen Alkaloiden, an erster Stelle Reserpilin, fand sich in der Rinde dünnerer Wurzeln.
